This past April, Team Burns and the UGA Accidentals co-hosted the first annual “SpringSing: Voices United for a Cure,” our largest charity fundraiser of the year!
SpringSing Weekend began on Friday, April 3, 2009, with a banquet in the Classic Center for all performers in the concert, provided by Team Burns. The benefit concert/ competition for the American Cancer Society followed. As the judges tabulated the results of the competition portion, the Accidentals as well as professional a cappella groups from around the country awed the audience. Following the concert, Team Burns announced the competition’s winners, and the performers enjoyed a beautiful night in Athens, GA.
After a good night’s sleep, the performers were rested and ready to participate in Saturday morning’s singing workshops on the campus of the University of Georgia, taught by the professional a cappella groups that sang in the competition the night before. Sponsor Chick Fil-A provided lunch, free of charge for all guests, and SpringSing Weekend came to a conclusion with an interactive group session on “Rockstar 101″ and “Vocal Percussion,” taught by members of the world-famous Blue Jupiter!
